The Annual Meeting of the American Association of Immunologists (AAI 2026) was convened in Boston from April 15 to 19, 2026. Attended by approximately 3,000 delegates, the congress presented a comprehensive scientific program encompassing fundamental immunology, clinical translational medicine, neuroimmunology, artificial intelligence in immunology, and emerging immunotherapeutic technologies.

On the morning of April 18, the Chinese Society for Immunology (CSI) successfully held its 15th Joint Symposium in conjunction with the AAI. The session was led by CSI President, Professor Bo Huang (Peking Union Medical College), and organized by CSI Vice President, Professor Yiwei Chu (Fudan University). Under the theme "A New Era in Interdisciplinary Immunotherapy," the symposium was co-chaired by Professor Yiwei Chu and Professor Diane Mathis (Harvard Medical School), attracting a specialized audience of over 120 scholars.

The proceedings commenced with a keynote address by Professor Bo Huang, who detailed the rapid institutional growth of the CSI. He highlighted that the 2025 CSI Annual Meeting saw record participation of 4,200 delegates, reflecting significant original research and clinical breakthroughs. Professor Huang further noted the rising international prestige of the society’s official journal, Cellular and Molecular Immunology (CMI), alongside the successful 2025 launch of Immunity & Inflammation, chaired by Academician Xuetao Cao. He emphasized that the CSI’s active engagement with FIMSA and its bilateral collaborations with immunology societies in the US, UK, Germany, and across Asia underscore the society’s commitment to high-quality international development.

The academic program featured five distinguished presentations from leading Chinese researchers:
Professor Bo Huang (CAMS & PUMC): "Mechanical softness: paving the road of CAR T therapy"
Professor Qingqing Wang (Zhejiang University): "Lactate modulation of macrophage function in inflammation and resolution"
Professor Xiaolong Li (University of Science and Technology of China): "Individual CD8+ T Cells restricted by protective HLA have superior control of HIV-1 mutation"
Professor Haoyu Sun (Fudan University): "Interdisciplinary design of NK-based immunotherapies"
Dr. Yong Jiang (on behalf of Prof. Haopeng Wang, Changping Laboratory): "T-cell Signaling and Engineering"

These presentations facilitated rigorous academic exchange and received high acclaim from the international community for the standard of Chinese immunological research. To conclude the session, Professor Bo Huang presented honorary certificates to the co-chair and guest speakers in recognition of their contributions to international scholarly cooperation.

In addition to the scientific sessions, the CSI hosted the "AAI Chinese Immunologists’ Gala – Boston Night" on the evening of April 17. Generously sponsored by Dakewe and BioLegend, the event gathered 150 Chinese immunologists from across the globe, providing a premier platform for professional networking and the strengthening of academic ties.
